Chabad of Northern Palm Beach Island will have a "shofar factory" for children and youth led by Rabbi Aaron Rabin.

The pre-High Holy Days program is scheduled from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at The Society of the Four Arts Children’s Library.

Children will make and their blow their own shofars using horns of ram. The instrument is sounded on the two days of the Jewish New Year or Rosh Hashanah (sundown Oct. 2 to sunset Oct. 4) and to mark the end to the 24-hour fast Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur.

The program is presented by The Chabad House in cooperation with  The Friedman CJE's PJ Library program.

The activity also is part of Chabad’s new Daled Arts Jewish enrichment programs. Daled Arts means Four Arts. (The Hebrew letter daled has the numerical value of four).
Each of the four programs will be themed around one of the four arts, including upcoming ones on literature, drama (for Purim) and music (for Passover).
