Holocaust tribute — Chabad of Northern Palm Beach Island will host its annual Holocaust Memorial Evening on Wednesday. The dinner and talk by survivor Chaim Walter Lebensohn of Delray Beach will begin at 7 p.m. at The Chabad House.

Lebensohn was born in 1931 in Vienna, Austria, and was later sent to an orphanage. When the orphanage director harassed him, he fled, ending up on the streets.

“Just a few months later, all the children in the orphanage were rounded up by the Nazis and sent to concentration camps where they were murdered,” said Rabbi Zalman Levitin.

Lebensohn eventually emigrated to New York and was a professor at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for more than 40 years.
