On the 19th day of Kislev, founder of the Chabad movement, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (1745–1812), was freed from his imprisonment in czarist Russia. The date marks the birth of Chassidus. Join a farbrengen and festive dinner with Rabbi Zalman Gansburg, Chabad emissary to Palmetto Bay, Florida. For more than two centuries, Chassidim participate in such gatherings to lighten their souls’ burdens, and share insights and practical ideas. A farbrengen can profoundly affect your life.
During the winter months when sundown is early, give your family, young and old, the gift of a traditional Shabbat experience. To accommodate the children, Family Shabbat will begin at 5:30 pm opening with the women and girls lighting Shabbat candles.
Etiquette and manners are not inborn; they are learned and must be practiced just as one would practice tennis, soccer or playing the piano. Hot dinner will be served to all the children as they learn dining etiquette from trained expert Mrs. Patricia Champier. Morah Hindel Levitin will teach the children to eat Jewishly including the meaning of kosher, blessings on food, and inviting guests. Empower your children! Space is limited; reservations required.
You know that Rabbi Shmuly Gutnick (a.k.a. Rabbi G) is sure to entertain even as he demonstrates. Assemble your own Havdalah kit starting with rolling wicks into beeswax and into the traditional Havdalah candle, plus make a fragrance with bits of clove spices and much more.
