Rabbi Zalman Levitin grew up as the rabbi’s son, raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He studied in yeshivas in Brooklyn, NY; Brunoy, France; and Israel. As a Chabad yeshiva student, he led services, taught educational seminars, and organized programs, all in order to bring the love of Torah to Jews living in the Caribbean Islands; Reno, Nevada; Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chelyabinsk, Russia, and parts of the Ukraine and Germany. After receiving rabbinic ordination from the Central Chabad-Lubavitch Yeshiva, he settled on Palm Beach in the summer of 2006 with his wife, Hindel, as the official Chabad emissaries to town. Under Rabbi Levitin’s leadership, The Chabad House on the island of Palm Beach has blossomed into a vibrant full-service center serving the entire Jewish community and its visitors and tourists. As of today, The Chabad House has made some form of contact with most of the Jewish population on the island, servicing thousands from all walks of life. Community-wide holiday celebrations like Chanukah on Worth, daily Torah classes, weekly Shabbos services and Challah gift packages, monthly women’s events, Jewish professional programs, lecture series, a multitude of high-quality children’s events, and most recently the opening of the Silverman Alef Preschool, have all definitively put Chabad on the map on Palm Beach.

But, at the end of the day, what really thrills Rabbi Levitin, who is known for his warmth, enthusiasm, and compassion, is simply hanging a mezuzah on someone’s door so they feel G‑d’s protection, encouraging someone to put on tefillin, visiting someone in the hospital and saying a heartfelt prayer with them, helping someone find a job or a place to stay, or simply sitting down to offer a cup of coffee and a listening ear.

As Chabad emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Levitins believe in the power and value of every single Jew, that every single good deed counts, and that just one Shabbos can change the world.
