Holocaust memorial — Michael Marder, who who survived nine death camps and lost his entire family in the Holocaust before his liberation at Bergen-Belsen, gave a moving and inspiring talk at Chabad of Northern Palm Beach Island’s Holocaust Memorial Evening May 28 at The Brazilian Court.
Marder described the faces of the mothers as their children were led away, and the camps’ intense labor demands while he was starving and freezing. After the war he got a job, married and had a family. Today, he is a proud great-grandfather and will celebrate his 90th birthday in July, said Rebbetzin HindelLevitin.
The evening also featured a candle lighting ceremony in memory of the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
