Rabbi Zalman Levitin and Richard
Hirsch, a friend of The Chabad House,
enjoy the “Chanukah at Publix” display
Dec. 6 in Palm Beach. The Chabad, the
rabbi and his wife Hindel and Publix co-sponsored the display with latkes, hor’s d’oeuvres and other Hanukkah items. It
was repeated Wednesday, and drew
streams of shoppers.

Jewish pride — Hanukkah has been festive on the island, even at Publix, which co-sponsored a display this week with The Chabad House and Rabbi Zalman and Hindel Levitin.

“The menorah really touches people,” asserts Rabbi Zalman Levitin, director of The Chabad House, who organized local menorah lightings from Publix to Tresor Rare to Le Visage to Kaufmann de Suisse, to a grand Hanukkah on Worth Avenue. “I can recall an elderly lady who came to me with tears in her eyes, saying as a resident of Palm Beach for 30 years ago, she was thrilled to witness the outdoor menorah lighting."
