The Palm Beach Jewish Center, 205 Royal Palm Way, is planning Shavuot in Chocolate Heaven at 6:30 p.m. May 19 with a reading of the Ten Commandments followed by chocolate desserts, ice cream and a dairy meal. Expect a program and game for adults featuring details of the Ten Commandments.

On May 20, services will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a kiddush lunch and Yizkor memorial service.

“Shavuot is a holiday in which we don’t just celebrate the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai that happened many years ago, but we actually receive the Torah anew on this holiday,” says Rabbi Zalman Levitin, who calls for increasing respect and loving one another. “This will make us ready for the responsibility and honor of receiving the holy Torah.”
