At the Palm Beach Jewish Center, 205 Royal Palm Way, Tisha B’Av services will begin at 8 p.m. The final meal before the start of the fast at 8:11 p.m., eaten shortly before sunset, is called seudah hamafseket, Rabbi Zalman Levitin said. Only one cooked food is eaten at this meal, customarily an egg dipped in ashes. Congregants will read Eichah — the Book of Lamentations — after prayers. The fast ends at 8:40 p.m.

According to Levitin: “We are taught that as we fast and mourn the two holy temples that were destroyed in the capitol of our Jewish homeland, Jerusalem, we should also look toward the future with great anticipation of the coming of our righteous Moshiach.”
