The Palm Beach Jewish Center is hosting Sushi in the Sukkah at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 234 Australian Ave. There will be sushi and live music. Cost is $8 per person.
The synagogue will host a Simchat Torah and birthday bash for the rabbi at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30, featuring a buffet dinner.
“The quality imparted by Sukkot is unity,” said Rabbi Zalman Levitin of the Palm Beach Jewish Center. “Our interdependence and oneness as a people is expressed by the four kinds (Lulav, Etrog, Hadasim and Arovot) taken on sukkot and by the sukkah’s embrace of every Jew — every type of Jew, and every individual Jew — within its walls.
“Whatever size sukkah we build, we must ensure that it should be a ‘big sukkah,’ in essence a welcome home to each and every one of our brethren,” he said. “This Sukkot, let us reach out and invite our neighbors to join us in our sukkah.”
