The Chabad House will host a Holocaust Memorial Evening at 7 p.m. April 23 with special guest speaker Marthe Cohn.
The Cohns were French citizens when Hitler rose to power and the Nazis occupied the country. After her sister was sent to Auschwitz, Cohn’s family fled to the south of France while she joined the French resistance as a spy. Taking advantage of her Aryan features and fluency in German, she would masquerade as a German nurse to slip into the country and gather valuable information about Nazi troop movements. Her 2002 memoir, Behind Enemy Lines: The True Story of a French Jewish Spy in Nazi Germany, recounts her adventures.
The Chabad House is at 361 S. County Road. Tickets to the lecture are $36. To RSVP, call 420-5000 or go to palmbeachjewish.com
