Members of Chabad of Palm Beach packed and shipped 2,700 packages of homemade matzo to residents of Palm Beach for Passover.

For the second straight year, the Jewish holiday of Passover will be observed from a distance by residents who remain wary of gathering in groups amid a pandemic.

But for those who are comfortable with larger celebrations, a pair of Palm Beach synagogues plan to offer socially distanced, outdoor Passover gatherings this weekend.

Chabad House Palm Beach and Palm Beach Synagogue will host outdoor Seders in observation of the first and second nights of Passover on Saturday and Sunday.

Seders are ritual feasts that mark Passover, which is celebrated throughout the world on the eve of the 15th day of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar.

Chabad House Palm Beach also is taking food outdoors for Passover, marking the holiday with Seder meals Saturday and Sunday evenings beginning at 8 p.m.

The community event is open to all, regardless of affiliation or experience, Rabbi Zalman Levitin said.

"The most well-known tradition of the Passover holiday is the Seder," he said.

The Chabad House also is hosting community Passover holiday lunches following morning services Sunday and Monday.
